When I go to the Conference, or at least a dozen times a week via email, I asked "what are some ' SEO secrets?"or "Hey-what key you are certain of, and to show me some of your Web sites? "Until you have earned my trust, however, I am sure will not show you anything. I made this mistake once, and 3 months later see "branch" site by that person. Not that I'm stuck up jerk and I'm not interested in helping people or payment, it at first because I really believe that is part of my role in the community. But there is a difference between someone appears on my door to ask for free food and a question, "Hey, can I fishing with you so I can learn how to fish yourself?"
While I am not the first generation SEO as Greg, Rae or Todd, I have been around some time, asked many questions, (sometimes silly), experimented and made very small and awesomely catastrophic errors along the way, dabbled in the black arts, things tried and failed, and this is how I learned. So much of what goes in the SEO Community today is not a matter questions, learning and teaching; is for attention whoring, popularity contests and SEO drama. Too many people are focused on finding the secrets to quick and easy way to set up ATM machines on their front lawn, so they can parade around like peacocks on display, the people who tell them, how they are as fabulously famous rockstars, when instead they should be in their efforts to learn how it works, what supports its rabotai what where when something breaks or gets torched their entire network. Since they did not put forward this effort when something is outside the Rails, they are exactly back they start: with no knowledge. They can do is look for the next exhibition "or SEO secrets.
Learning SEO is much as hunting. Without learning how to stalk your prey, how to hunt for ir, and how to "make a killing" this will feed you and your family, you will not survive. Instead, each sought Cash, financed by SEO secrets. But when Google announced they changed algorithm, specifically targeted at SEO sites, Web site, built on tricks without knowing what you did or why you did, this is likely to be a disaster, caught in the crossfire. However, if your Web site has strong technical platform with good information architecture practices, content of good or better quality that there is benefit for users and is not a shell for Adsense and solid social media and marketing plan of the real world and strategy, you are much more resistant to these fluctuations. Content may be King, but if your tech Foundation is so bad that the search engines may not understand it (listen up, developers of Ajax and Flash!), your information architecture is so crazy and convoluted that search engines cannot make heads or tails of it, and you do not market through appropriate channels, where you can find your customers (not just new hot social media channelYou weenies techno speak of having your page on Pinterest insurance of life), best content is trapped under lock and key, where no one, but you can see it. This is the combination of all the pieces working together – content, information architecture and good marketing and promotion-that leads to true success, not elusive secret you seek to avoid one or more of these steps.
Instead of focusing on ferreting, SEO secrets, concentrate on fundamentals-like, selecting the right URL structure for training. Learn how to silo your site, create Evergreen content and create seasonal content. Learn when you need to pay for the full content supplied. Learn how to market with social media, how to automate to get more ROI for their time. Learn how to develop and and when to e-mail to your list. Learn how to build trust through links. Learn how to check regularly your content and keep your site a lean, mean and up-to-date. Learn about fats, these useless parts of your Web site, which doesn't help you or your customers. When you learn these skills, you will find you do not need to spend so much time, search shortcuts, secrets and tips ... and you will spend less time worrying algorithm changes. SEO drama my be fun scattering or give you your 15 minutes of fame, but, unless it is added to your bottom line, it does not help. This is more attention.
