The Bumblebee photo is significant, given that the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS has been highly modified. In the past, the Camaro muscle car used for the Bumblebee character in the movie franchise has been contemporary. The car's signature yellow color also appears to have been toned down.
Bay calls the Corvette a "special race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray."
Chevrolet appears poised to get major product placement in the new version of the movie. The GM brand sold a 2012 Chevrolet Transformers Special Edition Camaro in the yellow color that Bumblebee sports in the movies.
No other details about the cars were provided. Transformers 4 is expected to be released on June 27, 2014, according to Paramount. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer.
Transformers 4 has been filming in metro Detroit this spring. The Michigan Film Office announced in March that the movie had been approved for a film incentive from the state. Transformers 4 was awarded an incentive of $20 million on $81.9 million of projected in-state expenditures, the Michigan Film Office said in a statement.
Transformers 4 is the third film in the series to use Detroit as a backdrop. The first Transformers, released in 2007, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, released in 2011, also filmed in metro Detroit.
Edmunds says: Bumblebee gets a menacing look and the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray appears to get a starring role in Transformers 4.
