GM said the Chevrolet SS will only be available in one trim level.
Standard equipment includes high-intensity-discharge headlights, automatic parking assist, Chevrolet MyLink with a navigation system, Bose audio system, a color head-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, alloy pedal covers, heated and ventilated front seats, side blind zone alert and lane departure warning, rear-vision camera with rear park assist and keyless access with push-button start.
The Chevrolet SS is equipped with a 415-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Other details include standard Brembo front brakes and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels.
The rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet SS arguably has no true domestic competition. Its closest rivals may be the 2014 Ford Taurus SHO AWD, which is priced at $40,695, including a $795 destination charge, and the 2013 Chrysler 300 SRT8. The base 2013 Chrysler 300 SRT8 Core model starts at $45,245, including a $995 destination charge.
Edmunds says: GM manages to keep the price of the Chevy SS under $50K, which ought to please its admirers.
