Avoid holiday season car accident

During the holidays, when millions of shoppers flood stores and centers, parking accidents frequency increases by about 20 percent, according to the independent insurance agents and Brokers Association. To help protect your car against things, jacks, fender-benders, try these tips to prevent car accident:

Check it twice. Use your eyes and mirrors — and ask your passengers to look around, too — to make sure your path is clear before you draw or take back your parking space.

Drive slowly. In this way, it is easy to avoid cars, speeding, cutting across the field or pulling out of parking spaces

Take a hike. Park far away from the store entrances, there is usually less crowded, to prevent car doors, scratches and stuff or other shopping carts. If it's dark outside, Park wherever you feel most secure, well-lit area.

If — despite your best efforts, you are involved in an accident in the parking lot, report it to the police, your insurer immediately, even if it seems minor. In this way, you are protected in case the other party has no insurance or a claim.

If you hit a parked car or other property, the owner cannot be found, securely cling to it a note with your contact information and then notify the police to the insurer.
